Greeting to all. Sorry so late on the post today, I work until 6 and then I usually try to get in some activity or another right after. Tonight all of the
Backcountry Rangers had a cookout (Deer and Elk!) and we got to hang out together away from work. There are 6 rangers and one spouse. It is such a great group to be working with, I am very lucky. I am starting to get to know all them better and they are really opening up and accepting me. Plus they keep inviting me over for cookouts, I hope this continues. I brought those onion potatoes to the cookout (
arent you proud), which was I nice change of pace to actually bring something to contribute instead of just eating a ton of food (although I did eat a ton). And they gave me more meat to take home. Anyway, I had another day one the job, and 8 more to go. My schedule is pretty much 9 days on and 4 or 5 off. They are starting to give me more
responsibilities as well. Right now I have been doing lots of project in the frontcountry as wel prepare for our excursions into the backcountry. I am also doing horse chores twice I day (which I really enjoy). I have a CPR/first aid training class coming up, as well as a radio training class. I am learning all kinds of things. I have been giving a schedule for the next month or more and I will try to post it when I get a chance. A bear has been frequenting our residential area, so I am taking my bear spray with me everywhere. Today I was doing a lot of outside work and I had to be conscious to look up and be aware.

I knew it was only a matter of time before you got a few cravings for civilization -- esp those that involved FOOD! (Beacon tea, Wades, Holdens Ranch stew). Speaking of...how's Elk meat? (tastes like chicken, right?) Let me know when you see your first Wolf or Coyote "face to face". BTW -- when's your 1st over-nighter? --Buffalo Bill
Jordan - You're my hero! I love you!
* P.s. keep your cat like reflexes sharp so you can steer clear of any harmful creatures a.k.a. a bear!
I'll try to help you out with as many of your items on your wish list as I am able when I come :) Good list...
Enjoyed the blog. It is great to hear the rangers are including you in everything. In the back country you need coworkers watching your back. Try not to cross them. That could be dangerous. I do not have an extra $1000 to send, but we are sending some of the basic items, a non-stick frying pan and taco seasoning. Should arrive 6-7 days by pony express.

Sounds like a great adventure. Keep us posted. I'll be working on that 1k. Don't let that grizzly get its paws on you.
